Jessica Powell

(B.A.Hons Music, Oxford; A.R.C.M., London, England)

with over twenty years of performing experience, from Saltzburg to Budapest, London, Paris and Madrid as well as Canada, oboist-flautist Jessica Powell directs this versatile ensemble. Jessica  is a French Government and Winston Churchill fellowship scholar and studied under Maurice Bourgue in Paris.

Jessica has performed with many ensembles as both soloist and chamber musician, and with many Baroque orchestra, including the Academy of Ancient Music, the English Concert, the English Baroque Soloists, Musica Viva et Antiqua of Turin, the Monteverdi Orchestra of Munich, and the Corelli Chamber Orchestra of Budapest. She has also performed as a soloist in Mozart's oboe concerto with members of the English Chamber Orchestra.

Phoebe Powell

 is equally at home on the Celtic or Classical  (Pedal) harp, with a repertoire that spans music from Mediaevel to Celtic styles up to Swing, light Jazz and Broadway. She is increasingly in demand for weddings, fund-raisers, church services and special occasions. She has won numerous prizes and scholarships for both harp and voice at the Calgary Kiwanis  Music Festival. Her warm-hearted friendly personality always shines through her playing.  She studies under Maureen O'Sullivan who was the principal harpist of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (?) She is has been a member of the Calgary Youth Orchestra since 2008. In her free time she enjoys being with friends, horse riding, ski touring and hiking.

Edward Powell

like his sister is a gifted and versatile musician who is as comforatble with Celtic fiddle repertoire (for which he plays bodhran and spoons) as he is on his classical violin. He is a natural performer who loves a challenge, and has begun composing his own fiddle melodies. He enjoys both solo and ensemble work. He is currently studying under Jeff Plotnick , who is the principal second violinist  with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. He enjoys outdoor adventures, especially with friends and family and is a fanatically daring downhill skier.

Peter Powell

is Tiramisu's talented guitarist. He was first prize winner in the 2008 Canadian Music Competition in Quebec and a double Royal College of Music Silver medallist. He has won numerous prizes and scholarships at the Calgary Kiwanis and Alberta(?) Provincial Kiwanis music festivals. He studies guitar performance and composition and has a particular love of Brazilian music, having first fallen in love with the guitar under the influence of an Andean folk group in England. In his spare time Peter enjoys volunteering at children's camps and leaping off cliffs on skis.

James Powell

plays on a rosy brass horn with a velvety sound that blends beautifully with both woodwinds and stringed instruments. He has won numerous prizes and scholarships at the Calgary Kiwanis and Alberta(?) Provincial Kiwanis music festivals.He has been a member of the Calgary Youth Orchestra (directed by Edmond Agopian) since 2006 and has toured Spain and Portugal  with the Orchestra in 2006/2007. He recently performed with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra at Calgary's Jack Singer Concert Hall.

Alongside his horn James runs a home-based business selling radio-controlled flying birds (www.rcfirebird.com) and is also a keen paraglider.
